GCSE English Writing Masterclass
Our 6-week GCSE English Writing Masterclass helps students develop the analytical writing skills needed for GCSE English Language and Literature. The course is ideal for students who understand their texts and topics but struggle to turn their knowledge into clear, well-developed exam answers.
Students learn what examiners look for and how to improve the quality of their written responses. Each week develops a different aspect of exam writing, with practical examples, modelling and opportunities to apply new skills.
Developing Strong GCSE English Writing
The masterclass begins by exploring AO1, AO2 and AO3 and showing students how these assessment objectives influence their marks. Students learn how to build focused analytical paragraphs, select relevant evidence and embed quotations naturally.
We also explore PEEL and PETAL paragraph structures, helping students organise their ideas without producing formulaic answers. Students learn how to analyse a writer’s methods, explore key words and explain their effects rather than simply identifying techniques.
As the course progresses, students develop stronger introductions, conclusions and whole-essay arguments. They also practise planning and writing under timed conditions.
Building Exam Confidence
Later sessions focus on applying these skills independently. Students compare different levels of response, identify areas for improvement and examine what separates a basic answer from a Grade 7–9 response.
By the end of the six weeks, students should feel more confident planning, structuring and developing their GCSE English answers. They will have practical strategies they can apply to both English Language and English Literature assessments.
The course uses small-group teaching, guided modelling and focused practice to help students become more confident and effective exam writers.
Course fee: £15 per session × 6 weeks = £90 in total.
