GCSE English Literature — Power & Conflict Masterclass (6-Week Online Course)

Group Class Schedule

Why Small-Group Courses & Masterclasses Work So Well

Many students build confidence and make faster progress in a focused small-group environment than they do working alone.

In a structured group setting, students:

✔ hear different ideas and perspectives – strengthening understanding and critical thinking

✔ build confidence by contributing answers, discussion and written responses

✔ learn key skills through guided modelling, examples and practice activities

✔ stay motivated through consistent weekly structure and clear learning goals

With no more than 8 students per group, every student receives individual feedback while benefiting from collaborative learning.

Whether preparing for September, developing writing and reading skills, or working towards GCSE success, students receive targeted support in a supportive and engaging environment.

This structured approach combines the benefits of classroom learning with the individual attention students need to make meaningful progress.

Yes. If by the WordPress version you mean the main course description field that needs roughly 300 words, I would make it more detailed than the short Synopsis but avoid duplicating the entire six-week breakdown.

WordPress Course Description — approx. 300 words

The GCSE Power and Conflict Masterclass is a structured 6-week online course designed for students studying the AQA GCSE English Literature Power and Conflict poetry anthology.

Across the course, students will explore all 15 anthology poems, developing their understanding of key themes including human power, the power of nature, conflict, memory, loss, identity and individual experience. Students will examine how poets communicate their ideas through language, form and structure while developing the skills required for AO1, AO2 and AO3.

A key focus of the masterclass is poetry comparison. Rather than learning each poem in isolation, students will explore meaningful connections between poems and consider why particular poems work well together. This helps students build a stronger understanding of the anthology and become more confident when selecting an appropriate poem to compare with the named poem in an exam question.

During Weeks 1–4, students will study the anthology through four key areas: Power: People, Society & Control; Nature, War & Physical Conflict; Consequences of Conflict: Memory & Loss; and Identity, Belonging & Personal Conflict.

Weeks 5 and 6 focus on comparison and exam skills. Students will practise analysing questions, selecting relevant quotations, identifying effective comparison points, planning responses and developing clear comparative arguments. They will also explore how to analyse language, form and structure with greater depth and use contextual knowledge appropriately.

Lessons include small-group teaching, guided modelling, interactive activities, targeted feedback and weekly homework to reinforce learning between sessions.

The course is suitable for students working towards a secure Grade 5–7, as well as those aiming to develop the more perceptive and detailed analysis associated with Grades 8–9.

Course fee: £15 per session × 6 weeks = £90 in total.
