1. Statement of Commitment

Online-Tutoring.uk is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We recognise our responsibility to provide a safe, supportive, and secure online learning environment where students feel respected, protected, and able to learn confidently.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.

This policy follows principles outlined in:

  • Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE)

  • Working Together to Safeguard Children

  • The Children Acts 1989 & 2004

2. Scope

This policy applies to:

  • All online tuition sessions

  • One-to-one lessons

  • Small group masterclasses

  • Communication with students under 18

  • Online platforms used for teaching

4. Definition of Safeguarding

Safeguarding includes:

5. Safer Working Practices

Tutors will:

  • Maintain professional boundaries at all times

  • Use approved teaching platforms only

  • Communicate through official business channels

  • Avoid private social media contact with students

  • Conduct lessons in appropriate professional environments

6. Online Learning Safety

  • Lessons take place via secure platforms (e.g., Zoom/Merithub).

  • Parents are encouraged to supervise younger students.

  • Sessions may be recorded where appropriate for safeguarding purposes.

  • Tutors must ensure appropriate backgrounds and conduct.

7. Reporting Safeguarding Concerns

If a concern arises:

  1. Record factual information immediately.

  2. Do not promise confidentiality.

  3. Report to the DSL immediately.

  4. DSL determines next action.

Where a child is at immediate risk:

8. Confidentiality

Information is shared only on a need-to-know basis to protect the child.

9. Recruitment & DBS
