Synopsis

During this course, students will explore the characters of the novella. In addition, students will look at why London was an effective setting. How language and dialogue is used to demonstrate formal speech, descriptive language and secrecy throughout this novella. In each lesson there will be questions and quizzes to help the student retain the knowledge of the course.

Course Details

Week 1
In this week, students will look at the character of Dr Jekyll and how he is a respected member of society. Also, how Mr Hyde demonstrates wickedness through his animal like behaviour.
Week 2
During this week, students will explore Dr Lanyon, Mr Enfield and Poole including Utterson. How some of the characters were obsessed with reputation while others found the truth hard to deal with.
Week 3
This week, students will focus on setting and symbolism technique. How the use of objects has meaning and why London made a good place in the story.
Week 4
Finally, how Language and dialogue was used in the was a useful tool to show secrecy in the novella.
